Welcome to Breath for Life!

Breath for Life thanks you for taking the time to review its policies around your course registration before submitting payment. It is your responsibility to read and understand the terms and conditions of your registration. When you are prompted to enter your name, in the space provided in the Registration Form, agreeing to the terms and conditions of your registration, you are entering into a contract with Breath for Life. Whether you register into a course independently or someone else registers you into a course an agreement of the terms and conditions will govern decision making should changes occur to your registration and attendance. Breath for Life is bound to be fair and transparent, based on governing body oversight, and will apply these policies with impartially and equality. Outlined are the terms and conditions of your registration:

Please note: Breath for Life reserves the right to update these policies without informing the registrant and the most current policy edit will be applied to any dispute or challenge.
1 Punctuality Being on time for your course is mandatory. This policy is in place so that registrants regard being on time as a high priority. Late arrivals disrupt course delivery and based on governing body oversight 100% attendance is mandatory for certificates to be issued. If you arrive late for your scheduled course, regardless of reason, and you are not permitted entry into the building the instructor(s) will not interrupt their class to advise you that you will not be permitted into the course you registered into. By arriving late, your lateness will be regarded as a ‘no show’. No refund/credit or accommodations will be permitted based on punctuality challenges. If you wish to reschedule into another course, you will be required to reserve your seat at the cost of a full registration. Breath for Life’s responsibility is to start the course on time, as per the registrant’s expectations and deliver an uninterrupted course to those who arrived on time. The expectation is that participants take this policy seriously and arrive before their course starts. Breath for Life opens its doors to the public 1/2 hour prior to the course start time; please arrive early and take advantage of prime parking.
2  Contact Breath for Life can be reached by emailing breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca. Priority will be given to emails. Any and all correspondence, regardless of reason or need, must be in writing. Breath for Life’s commitment is to respond to your email within the same business day:
  • If you correspond after business hours, a response will be returned within the next business day. Breath for Life will not answer its phone during registrant intake prior to a course, during sanitization of the facility (this occurs multiple times throughout the day), while in a classroom, when in meetings and most importantly when corresponding to a customer who contacts the office by email;
  • If you contact Breath for Life by email, about your need to cancel, reschedule or postpone your course after business hours, your request will default to the next business day and policies will apply accordingly.
3 Attendance (no-show) Your registration payment (cost of the course) reserves a seat for you, specific to the date and time of the course you chose. This is a one-time opportunity to attend your course and your registration does not reserve another session for you unless supported by policy. If you do not attend (no-show) your course on the day(s) of your course, for whatever reason, no refunds, credits or accommodations will be considered: this applies to informing Breath for Life of your absence on the day of the course, after the course and to arriving late for your course.
4 Final Sale Status

Final Sale status is given to your reserved course:

  1. When a course is marked ‘Full’ on the website: no notifications will be emailed out.
  2. 3 business days prior to your course date. Business days does not include evenings after 4pm, weekends and/or holidays. For example: if you register into your course on a Wednesday to attend your course on Monday you are accepting your registration as final sale: weekends are not considered regular business days. If you require to cancel within this window, for any reason, there will be no consideration of a refund, credit or reschedule.
  3. When you register into a course held on a holiday or holiday weekend.
  4. Purchased materials are final sale and will not be refunded.

Final sale means that no consideration will be given to an accommodation, reschedule, cancellation or postponement of the course you registered into. Your reservation is finalized and firm and if you cannot attend your reserved course, you accept the loss of your registration fees: no refund or credit will be considered. This applies regardless of when you registered into a course and when the designation of “Full” was applied to a course. Breath for Life will not reverse the “Full” status of a course for any reason.

5 14 Business Day Notice If you request to cancel, reschedule or postpone your course within 14 business days of your scheduled course date, outside of the final sale window outlined in point #5, you will be charged an administration fee set at $50.00 + tax to cancel and vacate your reservation or reserve a future seat (reschedule). This also applies if you register for your course within this time period and decide to vacate your reserved seat within this time period:
  1. If you request to cancel your course, a refund minus the administration fee will apply. The balance of your payment will be refunded to you based on the payment method used and no other refund method will be considered. You will receive an email when you have been refunded with a revised receipt.
  2.  If you request to reschedule your course, your initial registration payment will be applied as a credit to a future course date with the addition of an administration fee to reserve your seat.  A payment link will be emailed for payment of the administration fee. This must be paid within 24 hours and a course date must be specified on the payment link form reflecting your choice of a date that falls within 30 days of your original registration (dates are found on the website and must be referred to when rescheduling). If payment is not received within 24 hours of the payment link being issued by email, your reschedule request will expire and your request to reschedule will be denied: no refunds/credits or accommodations will be allowed.
6 Accommodations As per #6:B, one (1) accommodation to reschedule will be honored within the time frame outlined. If you request to reschedule your course prior to the 14 business day window, outlined above, no charge will be applied to a reschedule, however, only one reschedule, transfer or postponement will be permitted based on your registration.
If you have registered into a renewal or recertification course and your certificate expires during the wait period of the next rescheduled course date, you will be required to take a full course. In this case a credit of your original payment will be applied, along with the administration fee, but if there is a course cost difference you will be required to pay the difference to register into the full course.
7 Refunds Requests to cancel your registered course outside of the 14 business day window will be honored and a refund minus a 35% processing fee of your overall payment will be refunded. This charge is non-negotiable. Merchants pay fees for every transaction that occurs (registration and cancellation fees) and Breath for Life will not absorb these fees if you cancel your registration. The balance of your payment will be refunded to you based on the payment method used and no other method will be considered.
As purchased materials are regarded as final sale, no refund will be issued for materials purchased. Materials may be picked up at your convenience within 30 days of your cancellation. You will receive an email when you have been refunded with a revised receipt.
8 Notification of Absence If you are unable to attend your course (no-show) for whatever reason, and notify Breath for Life of your absence after the course has started and/or finished, Breath for Life will not entertain negotiations around your absence and no refunds/credits or accommodations will be permitted.
9 Substitutions Regardless of the above, if you are able to transfer and/or surrender your course registration to someone else please email the office the name, email and course details around this change and your registration will be transferred to that person. By surrendering your reserved seat to someone else you accept the loss of a refund/credit. An email will be sent confirming the transfer to both parties involved. When the transfer has occurred, if that person requires to cancel, reschedule or postpone no refunds/credits or accommodations will be considered (the registration status of this person is final sale).
10 Holidays or Statutory Holidays If you register into a holiday or holiday weekend your reserved seat is Final Sale (5:B).  No refund/credits or accommodations will be permitted based on cancellations or reschedule requests.
11 Minimum # Breath for Life’s commitment is to deliver the course that you register into. Based on minimum number enrollment requirements imposed on Breath for Life by its governing bodies, on the rare occasion that a minimum number of registrants do not enroll in a course, Breath for Life will inform the registrant(s) of this occurrence. Breath for Life will email the registrant(s) a minimum of two business days prior to the scheduled course start date and reschedule you into a future course based on a date of your choice at no charge. Breath for Life will refund your registration if that is your request.
12 Incomplete Course If you do not complete your course, or decide to leave your course, within the timeline of your course, regardless of reason, no refunds/credits or accommodations will be permitted.
13  Safety To keep our school safe and clean for everyone, shoes worn outside must be removed at the door. Breath for Life takes pride in delivering your course in a facility that is cleaned to a very high standard. Stating that you have changed your shoes in your vehicle and then walk across the parking lot prior to building entry will not be accepted as the Breath for Life’s facility is cleaner than the parking lot. Please bring slippers, clean indoor footwear or at a minimum wear socks.
14  Purchased Materials Purchased materials are final sale. Please request your purchased material(s) at the course. If you leave purchased course material behind it will be your responsibility to arrange a pick up time. Any refund requests around forgotten material will be denied. Alternately, you may make arrangements to pick up your material or request shipment of your material at the set rate of $45.00+tax by emailing: breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca
Items left behind will be held in lost and found for no more than 2 weeks. If email  communication around the item left behind is not received within this time frame, Breath for Life will either discard the item or donate it.
15  Respect  Breath for Life will not tolerate behaviors, words and/or gestures which convey rudeness, hostility, anger to its staff and/or other participants during a course (this may take the form of bullying, anger, aggression, swearing, racial slurs, unkind words, manipulative language, etc). This will result in an immediate dismissal from your course without a refund or credit. The expectation of respect also applies to email communications: emails that are accusatory, pressured, sarcastic, unkind, manipulative and/or lack diplomacy will not be responded to. Please communicate politely and respectfully.
Respect of Facilities: behaviors that would suggest disrespect of Breath for Life’s facility, property, equipment, etc will not be tolerated. As courses are offered to the public, the Breath for Life facility, property and equipment must be maintained to a high quality standard and any disrespect could mean your dismissal from your course without a refund/credit or accommodation.
16 Unforeseen Circumstances By accepting the terms and conditions of your registration, which is a contract between you and Breath for Life, you accept that Breath for Life will follow policy even if life circumstances change.
In that the public expects Breath for Life to deliver the course that was paid for, regardless of any unforeseen circumstance that Breath for Life may encounter, in like manner Breath for Life expects that the registrant(s) attend their reserved course and if they cannot they accept that Breath for Life will follow the terms and conditions of the contract that was entered into. Should the registrant not attend their course, or are required to vacate their reserved seat, based on circumstances that are regarded as outside of their control or unforeseen, which are problems that should not be imposed on Breath for Life (examples include but are not exhaustive: confusion as to the start time, inclement weather, car troubles, public transportation issues, late or cancelled flights, work related scheduling conflicts, too busy, forgetting about your course, your alarm did not go off, babysitter challenges, illness or injury, road or train inconveniences, appointment conflicts or any other circumstance for which it is believed that an accommodation is deserved), policies will be followed.
17  Red Cross Account Set- up Receiving a Red Cross certificate hinges on creating a Canadian Red Cross account that is specific to your name and email. Your name and email define the parameters of your Red Cross Account.  When the Red Cross issues your certificate, the name defining who you are in your account, enters onto the certificate. A shared account is not permitted because if someone takes a course using your account their certificate will be in the account holder’s name. If you do not create a Red Cross account specific to yourself, you will understand the nature of this problem. You may either create your specific account or seek the help of one of Breath for Life’s friendly staff to achieve this.
18 Certificates Upon successful completion of your course, Breath for Life advises The Canadian Red Cross of course completion. The Canadian Red Cross populates the certificate to the registrant’s Red Cross account. Breath for Life does not issue certificates and it is the responsibility of the registrant to access their certificate and if required to show proof of certification to an employer. Breath for Life will not be contacting the Canadian Red Cross to retrieve certificates on behalf of the registrant. Breath for Life highly encourages the registrant to access their certificate a few days after the course. Potential problems may be encountered and Breath for Life is willing to assist in problem solving. Breath for Life typically submits the course roster to the Red Cross after a course is completed. It may take a day or two for the Red Cross to populate your certificate to your account: My Profile: My Certifications
  • The Canadian Red Cross gives training partners up to 10 business days to submit the course roster for certification to be issued. Breath for Life submits the course roster to the Canadian Red Cross in a timely manner – usually upon course completion.  On the rare occasion, it may take up to 72 hours for the Canadian Red Cross to populate your certificate to your account (My Profile: My Certifications).
19 Certificate Expiry Based on governing body requirements, Breath for Life will not honor expired certificates. Please ensure that your course selection is correct and that if you are taking a recert/renewal course that your card is not expired. It is the responsibility of the certificate holder to know when a certificate will expire. You must bring your certificate to your course (hard copy or electronically). If your certificate is expired you will be required to take a full course at full cost unless Breath for Life can accommodate you on the same day of your course: a course cost difference and administration fee will be charged accordingly.
If you have requested a reschedule of your course, for which a reschedule has been granted, and your certificate has expired within the time frame of your reschedule (the 30 day time limit to take a rescheduled course), you will be required to register into the full course. Your registration will serve as a credit,  but the course cost difference and administration fee will be charged: no refunds or credits will be considered.
  • Breath for Life subcontracts a service provider to remind certificate holders, via email, of their upcoming certificate expiry.  This service is a courtesy service and Breath for Life will not be held responsible if you did not receive this reminder. It is the responsibility of the certificate holder to know the expiry date of their certificate.
20 Incorrect Course Selection Breath for Life will not issue refunds/credits for an incorrect course registration. If you have selected an incorrect course and it is realized on the day of your course, Breath for Life will try to accommodate a change within the same time period as your registration date: any cost difference including an administration fee will be charged accordingly and no refunds will be issued if the cost paid is greater than the course required. If Breath for Life cannot accommodate a transfer into the required course on the day(s) of your course, and a reschedule into a future course is required, no refunds/credits will be considered.  The initial payment of your registration will be applied as a credit, an administration fee will charged and if there is a course cost difference that will be calculated into the amount owing. If Breath for Life cannot accommodate you within the period of your registration and you decide to cancel based on this, no refund/credit will be issued.
21 Special Accommodations

Special accommodation requests must be made to breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca. This will include the need for a table and other incidentals. Breath for Life will not accommodate late arrivals beyond 10 minutes past the start time and our doors are open to the public 1/2 hour before course commencement time.

We will not accommodate the presence of extra visitors, children or adults, who have not paid to be in a classroom. Our responsibility is to deliver the course that you registered into and not to those who hang around in the foyer while a course is being delivered. Those dropping off a person, children, etc will not be allowed to stay during the delivery of a course unless their presence is paid for: there will be no accommodations around this consideration.
