“First Aid & CPR Training in Edmonton and Area”

Standard First Aid – In Class

Standard First Aid

Intermediate or Standard First Aid Course

Level C or A CPR
2-Day In-Class

The Intermediate or Standard First Aid course, formerly known as Standard First Aid in Alberta, is approved by OH&S through the Canadian Red Cross. This course fulfills the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) criteria for Intermediate First Aid content delivery. This two day course explores First Aid concepts around Primary Emergencies  and Secondary First Aid Challenges.

Primary emergencies are life-threatening challenges which require immediate medical attention and first aid support until EMS arrives. Challenges around Primary emergencies include Airway, Breathing and/or Circulatory concerns resulting in shock. Shock needs to be recognized early as it is an indicator of a life-threatening emergency. First Aid care principles are explored and practiced: topics include diabetes, seizures, musculoskeletal injuries, environmental injuries, etc. For a more detailed list please check out the course Topics. Practice opportunities during this interactive course will build confidence around management of First Aid problems.

Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is explored and practiced as a single rescuer and within a team approach. The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is discussed and practiced as an intervention while CPR is being performed. Familiarity is essential in the use of an AED.

Breath for Life will help you achieve confidence to recognize various emergency situations and provide supportive care until EMS arrives. Instructors, who teach this course, are knowledgeable and care about your learning experience.

Please note: For the Blended delivery course please review the course page: Standard First Aid blended course
