The Intermediate or Standard First Aid Blended Course, formerly known as Standard First Aid in Alberta, approved by OH&S through the Canadian Red Cross, combines Red Cross modules, which are completed online, and a one-day in-class training session held at Breath for Life. This combined approach fulfills the certification requirements of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) for an Intermediate or Standard First Aid Blended Course. The Standard First Aid Blended course is OH&S approved and meets CSA standards.
The Intermediate or Standard First Aid Blended course focuses on the Primary Assessment and Secondary Assessment. The focus of a primary assessment is to determine life-threatening emergencies which must be treated immediately to prevent shock. Primary considerations involving airway, breathing and circulatory emergencies: CPR will be practiced using and AED. Secondary assessment problems require medical attention but are not regarded as immediately life-threatening. You may review the Standard First Aid Blended course content.

Standard First Aid Blended Details
- Blended Learning: What is Blended Learning?
- Time: 8:00 – 4:30 pm (Online Modules: 8 hrs/In-Class: 7 hrs)
- Duration: 14 to 16 hours
- Cost: $140.00 + GST = $147.00 (Includes Digital Manual)
- Certificate: The Canadian Red Cross will issue you an Standard First Aid Blended certificate to your user account (in-class details will be provided); certificates are valid for three years

- The Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid Blended Course meets the requirements for a Certificate of Recognition (COR)
- If you have a current Intermediate or Standard First Aid Certificate (not expired), you are eligible to take the Renewal Course.
- Breath for Life includes a digital training manual in the course cost
