The Red Cross Intermediate or Standard First Aid Renewal course, formerly known as Standard First Aid in Alberta, is approved by OH&S through the Canadian Red Cross. This course fulfills the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) criteria for an Intermediate or Standard First Aid Renewal course. Summary: this course is OH&S approved and meets CSA standards.
This one-day in-class course Standard First Aid Renewal Course explores and reviews content relevant to Primary Emergencies and Secondary challenges. Primary emergencies are life-threatening problems which involve an alteration in consciousness, Airway, Breathing and Circulation resulting in shock. Proper first aid management of life-threats including shock awareness and management is crucial for a person’s survival. Of importance will be CPR (includes Level C or A) practice which includes AED setup and use.
Secondary challenges, which are not immediately life-threatening, become the core content of first aid awareness during the intermediate first aid renewal course. Practice opportunities during this course will instill confidence. Please refer to the course Topics.
Standard First Aid Renewal Details
- Time: 8:00 – 4:30 pm (This is a 1 day in-class session)
- Duration: 7.5 hours
- Cost: $115.00 + GST = $120.75 (Includes Digital Manual)
- Certificate: The Canadian Red Cross issues certificates to your Red Cross account; certificates are valid for three years.
- The Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid Renewal Course meets the requirements for a Certificate of Recognition (COR)
- Breath for Life includes a digital training manual in the course cost
- The title on your certificate must match the ‘Intermediate or Standard First Aid Renewal’ course title
- Valid Certificates delivered by an approved agency will be accepted
- If your certificate has expired beyond the date illustrated on your certificate, you must take the 2 day course
