Welcome to Breath for Life! Breath for Life thanks you for taking the time to review its policies around your course registration before submitting payment. It is your responsibility to read and understand the terms and conditions of your registration. When you are prompted to enter your name, in the space provided in the Registration Form, agreeing to the terms and conditions of your registration, you are entering into a contract with Breath for Life. Whether you register into a course independently or someone else registers you into a course an agreement of the terms and conditions will govern decision making should changes occur to your registration and attendance. Breath for Life is bound to be fair and transparent, based on governing body oversight, and will apply these policies with impartially and equality. Outlined are the terms and conditions of your registration: Please note: Breath for Life reserves the right to update these policies without informing the registrant and the most current policy edit will be applied to any dispute or challenge. |
||
| 1 | Punctuality | Being on time for your course is mandatory. This policy is in place so that registrants regard being on time as a high priority. Late arrivals disrupt course delivery and based on governing body oversight 100% attendance is mandatory for certificates to be issued. If you arrive late for your scheduled course, regardless of reason, and you are not permitted entry into the building the instructor(s) will not interrupt their class to advise you that you will not be permitted into the course you registered into. By arriving late, your lateness will be regarded as a ‘no show’. No refund/credit or accommodations will be permitted based on punctuality challenges. If you wish to reschedule into another course, you will be required to reserve your seat at the cost of a full registration. Breath for Life’s responsibility is to start the course on time, as per the registrant’s expectations and deliver an uninterrupted course to those who arrived on time. The expectation is that participants take this policy seriously and arrive before their course starts. Breath for Life opens its doors to the public 1/2 hour prior to the course start time; please arrive early and take advantage of prime parking. |
| 2 | Contact | Breath for Life can be reached by emailing breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca. Priority will be given to emails. Any and all correspondence, regardless of reason or need, must be in writing. Breath for Life’s commitment is to respond to your email within the same business day:

Attendance |
Your registration payment (cost of the course) reserves a seat for you, specific to the date and time of the course you chose. This is a one-time opportunity to attend your course and your registration does not reserve another session for you unless supported by policy. If you do not attend (no-show) your course on the day(s) of your course, for whatever reason, no refunds, credits or accommodations will be considered: this applies to informing Breath for Life of your absence on the day of the course, after the course and to arriving late for your course. |
| 4 |
Final Sale Status |
When a course is marked “Full” on the website, this means ratio and classroom capacities have been reached. Based on this designation, your reservation is regarded as Final Sale, regardless of when you registered into the course, and no refund/credit or accommodations will be considered based on cancellation, reschedule or postponement requests regardless of reason. This applies regardless of when you registered into a course and the designation of “Full” was applied to a course. Breath for Life will not reverse the “Full” status of a course for any reason. Final sale means that no consideration will be given to an accommodation, reschedule, cancellation or postponement of the course you registered into. Your reservation is finalized and firm and if you cannot attend your reserved course, you accept the loss of your registration fees: no credits or refunds will be considered. Please note: The policies that follow apply regardless of whether a course is marked “Full” or not on the website. Final Sale status is given to your reserved course:

| 5 | Module Completion |
Breath for Life sends out a preliminary email directing students that Red Cross Modules will be issued to you within the week (within 7 days) of your course start date. The Red Cross sends you an email shortly thereafter, inviting you to set up a Red Cross Account. The Modules will be populated to ‘My Online Courses’. By activating the course modules your goal is to complete them before the in-class skills session. If the modules are not completed, as per the Red Cross and OH&S, you will not be permitted to attend the in-class session. As all Red Cross companies must pay an upfront fee to the Red Cross to issue your modules, if your modules are not completed, for which you will not be able to attend your in-class course, no accommodations will be allowed and no refunds/credits will be issued for this. The Red Cross sends out modules based on the email you provided to us in the registration that you completed online, it is incumbent on you to ensure that your email is correct, that you check your inbox/junk/spam folder within 24 hours of registering into the course, for the Red Cross email inviting you to set up your account to access your modules. We will problem solve difficulties with you, if any are encountered, but if you leave this to the night before, for which the office is closed, you may not realize success in completing the modules. Should you register within the week prior to course commencement, modules will be assigned during business hours of the same day or early the next day and final sale status will then be designated to your registration. |
| 6 | 10 Business Days Notice |
If you register into the blended course within 10 business days prior to issuance of modules (the 7 day window outlined in #5) and require to cancel, reschedule, or postpone your course you will be charged an administration fee set at $50.00 + tax to vacate your seat or reserve a future seat. Please note: Breath for Life sends out module access instructions to every registrant choosing the Blended course, which means modules will be assigned to the registrant by the Canadian Red Cross shortly thereafter; a cancellation or reschedule will not be allowed as your reservation is deemed final sale and no refunds/credits will be considered: modules are not transferrable to another date or person and Breath for Life pays the Red Cross in advance for you to receive the modules. However:
|
| 7 | Reschedule | As per #6, if you request to reschedule your course prior to the 10 business day window, outlined above, no charge will be applied to reschedule; only one reschedule will be permitted based on your registration. If you request to reschedule within the 10 business day time frame illustrated in point #6, an administration fee ($50.00 plus GST) will apply. |
| 8 | Refunds |
Requests to cancel your registered course outside of the 10 business day window outlined previously will be honored and a refund minus a 35% processing fee of your overall payment will be refunded if modules have not been issued to the registrant. This charge is non-negotiable. Merchants pay fees for every transaction that occurs (registration and cancellation fees) and Breath for Life will not absorb these fees if you cancel your registration. The balance of your payment will be refunded to you based on the payment method used and no other method will be considered. |
| 9 | Notifications of Absence | If you are unable to attend your course (no-show) for whatever reason, and notify Breath for Life of your absence after the course has started and/or finished, Breath for Life will not entertain negotiations around the absence and no refunds/credits or accommodations will be permitted. |
| 10 | Stat Holidays or Holiday Weekends |
If you register into a holiday weekend your reserved seat is Final Sale and any consideration to cancel, reschedule or postpone your course will result in a loss of your registration fees: no refund/credits will be considered. |
| 12 | Module Access |

Module Completion & Certification |
Module completion must be completed prior to your in-class skills session. This is an OH&S and Canadian Red Cross requirement. The Canadian Red Cross issues a certificate to your Red Cross account based on completing the course expectations. Breath for Life will submit the course roster to the Red Cross after the completion of the Course. We are prompt and diligent in this consideration.
|
| 13 | Incomplete Course | If you do not complete your modules before the in-class skills session, you will be graded as an incomplete. Modules cannot be transferred to a future date. If you do not attend the in-class skills session date you will be graded as an incomplete. No refunds/credits or accommodations will be considered around this consideration. |
| 14 | Safety | To keep our school safe and clean for everyone, shoes worn outside must be removed at the door. Breath for Life takes pride in delivering your course in a facility that is cleaned to a very high standard. Stating that you have changed your shoes in your vehicle and then walk across the parking lot prior to building entry will not be accepted as the Breath for Life’s facility is cleaner than the parking lot. Please bring slippers, clean indoor footwear or at a minimum wear socks. |
| 15 | Materials Items | Purchased materials are final sale. You must request your purchased material at the course. If you leave purchased course material behind it will be your responsibility to arrange a pick up time. Any refund requests around forgotten material will be denied. Alternately, you may make arrangements to pick up your material or request shipment of your material at the set rate of $35.00+tax by emailing: breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca. Items left behind will be held in lost and found for no more than 2 weeks. If email communication around the item is not received within this time frame, Breath for Life will either discard the item or donate it. |
| 16 | Respect | Breath for Life will not tolerate behaviors, words and/or gestures which convey rudeness, hostility, anger to its staff and/or other participants during a course (this may take the form of bullying, anger, aggression, swearing, racial slurs, unkind words, manipulative language, etc). This will result in an immediate dismissal from your course without a refund or credit. The expectation of respect also applies to email communications: emails that are accusatory, pressured, sarcastic, unkind, manipulative and/or lack diplomacy will not be responded to. Please communicate politely and respectfully. Respect of Facilities: behaviors that would suggest disrespect of Breath for Life’s facility, property, equipment, etc will not be tolerated. As courses are offered to the public, the Breath for Life facility, property and equipment must be maintained to a high quality standard and any disrespect could mean your dismissal from your course without a refund/credit or accommodation. |
| 17 | Unforeseen Circumstances | By accepting the terms and conditions of your registration, which is a contract between you and Breath for Life, you accept that Breath for Life will follow policy even if life circumstances change. In that the public expects Breath for Life to deliver the course that was paid for, regardless of any unforeseen circumstance that Breath for Life may encounter, in like manner Breath for Life expects that the registrant(s) attend their reserved course and if they cannot they accept that Breath for Life will follow the terms and conditions of the contract that was entered into. Should the registrant not attend their course, or are required to vacate their reserved seat, based on circumstances that are regarded as outside of their control or unforeseen, which are problems that should not be imposed on Breath for Life (examples include but are not exhaustive: not completing your modules, confusion as to the start time of the course, inclement weather, car troubles, public transportation issues, flight cancellations or delays, work related scheduling conflicts, too busy, forgetting about your course, your alarm did not go off, babysitter challenges, illness or injury, road or train inconveniences, appointment conflicts or any other circumstance for which it is believed that an accommodation is deserved), policies will be followed. |
| 19 | Certificate Expiry |
|
| 20 | Incorrect Course Selection | If you have selected this course in error, Breath for Life will do its best to accommodate you as long as modules have not been issued. If modules have not been issued, an administration fee of $50.00 plus tax will be charged to move you into a different course. |
| 21 | Special Accommodation Requests |
Special accommodation requests must be made to breathforlifeinc@shaw.ca. This will include the need for a table and other incidentals. Breath for Life will not accommodate late arrivals beyond 10 minutes past the start time and our doors open to the public 1/2 hour prior to the course commencement time. We will not accommodate the presence of extra visitors, children or adults, who have not paid to be in a classroom. Our responsibility is to deliver the course that you registered into and not to those who hang around in the foyer while a course is being delivered. Those dropping off a person, children, etc will not be allowed to stay during the delivery of a course unless their presence is paid for: there will be no accommodations around this consideration. |
